Islamic Code for Governance after The Exalted Prophet

To assume that the Muslim ummah will or should select a Khalifa without the underlying conditions being right for such a setup is unrealistic. The Quran clearly states the basic principal for decisions making in verse 42:38 "..conduct their affairs by mutual consultation (shura)..."

Civil wars are a direct result of diverging ideologies and oppression. Toward the end of lineage of sahaba, the political center of the Muslim empire had shifted to Damascus and Baghdad with raging dissension throughout the realm. Competing ideologies from Persia and other regions created instability, and as we know, the ideologies from Persia prevailed.

We read history to learn from it. If we do not learn our lesson, we are doomed to repeat it.
