Inspirational & Educational Reading

SA all,

In addition to reading Quran, during Ramadan, I always try to read other material(s) which enhance my understanding of living in Islam. To that end, I just completed reading I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity by Izzeldin Abuelaish. The book gives great incite into the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, but rather than being political, is primarily about tolerance, finding common ground, the ability to move forward despite adversity, and using dialog in lieu of violence as a means to resolve problems. Much of the author's viewpoint is informed by Quran.

As an avid reader I am curious to know whether our salaatforum community is interested in creating and maintaining a booklist of inspirational/educational reading materials. For example, we could have a 'Resources' item next to the 'About us' and 'Forum policy' headings on the main menu. Many books have already been cited in previous postings which could be listed under such a menu heading.

Salam,

this is really great and i think we can do it.

I am much more interested in scientific books and i would like to recommend The Constants of Nature by John D. Barrow. That's an interesting book and if one wants to believe more and more in the Mastery and Design of Allah, needs to read it.

I also like to read more of Dostoyevsky's books and believe one would learn many lessons by reading his great novels.
